The Cape Ann Museum's Archives contain documents, books, maps, newspapers and ephemera dealing with the personal, business, legal, educational, social and religious affairs of Gloucester and Cape Ann from the 17th century to the present day. While most of the material relates directly to Cape Ann, the area’s centuries old connection to other parts of the world through its maritime commerce make the records global in scope.

Folly Cove Designers Collection

Letters, advertisements, bills, photographs, oral histories, and other documents pertaining to the artistic and design side of the group’s work, their execution and promotion as a business, and which outline the way in which the group functioned.

Virginia Lee Burton Demetrios Papers

Manuscript materials, proofs and galleys, drawings, sketchbooks, correspondence, clippings and photographs, most relating to Virginia Lee Burton herself as well as some materials from family members.

Digitized Gloucester Newspapers

A large collection of newspaper issues from the Gloucester area from the 19th century.

Maps

Search historic maps of the Gloucester and Cape Ann area.

This collection consists primarily of correspondence between Leslie Buswell and John Hays Hammond Jr. between 1915 and 1928, as well as more general correspondence. There is also a smaller grouping of documents referencing his property, vital records, diplomas, etc., and several photograph albums.
