Above the Fold: Josh Reynolds, 1996-1999
In 1996, Times editor Mary (Wessling) Harrington brought on Josh Reynolds, her final hire for the GDT newsroom before she departed for the New Bedford Stanford-Times. Reynolds had studied journalism at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and spent three years working at newspapers in Berlin and Derry, NH. During his time at the GDT, Reynolds won numerous New England Associated Press News Executives Association awards. He was often rewarded for his willingness to take risks when shooting, particularly capturing angles from great heights. Reynolds’ work also demonstrated his keen understanding of natural light. Throughout his time spent working in Gloucester, along with striving to constantly improve his photography, a goal came to light for Reynolds: “To have one of my photos on the walls of the Cape Ann Museum.”
