Above the Fold: Jessica Murray, 2003-2005
Jessica (Stygles) Murray, worked as a part-time photographer for the Gloucester Daily Times from 2003 to 2005. A graduate of Merrimack College where she studied fine arts in a co-op program, Murray was fortunate to work two semesters for The Boston Globe. Up to this point in her career, Murray had never had to take feature photographs, much less create entire photo stories, but at the GDT she learned to do both from her boss and mentor, Mike Dean. Murray looks back fondly at her time with the GDT: “My memories are very similar to the pictures I have kept of my assignments during my time there. Snippets of a moment I was able to be a part of and document. I grew to love the area."
